Unveiled Justice

During my quiet time with God while reading the new Testament, the Spirit of God opened my eyes.

Only Jesus can remove the veil that is over people’s eyes that has blinded them to truth and and a clear understanding of justice. Many things are happening today in America, such as violence, rioting, abortions, murder, sex trafficking, promiscuity and so on because of people’s ignorance of truth. Second Corinthians talks about this. “But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the old testament because the veil is taken away in Christ” (2 Corint.3:14).

People cannot understand God and what He does, which leads them to a false picture of God and of our purpose. Without an understanding of our purpose, we grab at straws and any passing pleasure or something that gives us a false sense of purpose.

Often people misconstrue the God of the Old Testament as harsh and unmerciful, which causes them to turn away and not receive the gift of His mercy extend through Jesus Christ. Yet we can only truly understand God in light of Jesus Christ. Second Corinthians illustrates this clearly as a veil over their eyes. Not only are people veiled when reading the Old Testament, they are veiled in understanding the principles and character of God. They think either that God has changed when they look at the New Testament because of the difference or they think that he is a God of vengeance or they think he doesn’t exist because justice is not metered out quickly.

Yet when the Old and New Testament are understood through the revelation of the Holy Spirit, who we receive when we believe in the atoning work of Jesus Christ, we can see the true picture. We are most blessed living in the New Testament era because Jesus fulfilled all the requirements of the law in the Old testament. So God poured out his mercy upon us because we have been justified through Jesus Christ. It does not mean that God is no longer just or that He doesn’t care, but it highlights and sheds a spotlight on the amazing mercy He provided through His son. It demonstrates the incredible forgiveness of God for our sins as we repent and His abundant mercy that flows from Him through Christ to us.

When we look at the God of the Old Testament, we can only understand him fully through the work that His son did on the cross. Those who do not know the Christ turn to either the Old Testament or the New Testament and miss understand God and His justice. They therefore live in darkness because they do not have the revelation of Christ to shed light on the Old Testament.

All you have to do is look around at the mess America is in and realize that most people do not understand what is truth because they do not understand who God is and they have no revelation. Therefore, it is up to Christians to shed the light of truth on what is going on in America these days. We cannot bemoan the fact that they have no understanding. If you have not the son then you don’t have truth or revelation. We must be the ones to stand up for truth and to do it in the way of Jesus Christ. We need to stand firm with love. We must communicate the revelation of Christ through the power of the Holy spirit. Our words will not do. They must be founded on biblical truth and accompanied by action.

What action? Just look at the things that Jesus did. He promised that we would do these things and greater. He cared for people, he taught them truth, often through stories. he healed them; he feed the; he delivered them from demonic oppression and spirits. Today we see evidence of this demonic activity in drugs and addictions of all kinds—money, sex, power etc. Jesus also dialogued and discussed important principles of the kingdom of God with them, and above all else he loved them. He was patient with them and always got to the source of the issue. These are the things that we need to lean on the Lord to help us accomplish. It is our blessed opportunity and responsibility.
